Celebrating all things autumnal in the New Forest 🍂

Updated: Jun 17, 2024

We're just floating our way back into reality after a beautiful weekend of yoga, meditation, forest walks and sea swims on our third annual autumn retreat at Tiptoe Lodge...

Once again we were blessed with autumnal sunshine and took our morning practice outdoors, aligning with our theme of re-connecting to the energy of the Earth.

This year’s retreat centered around slowing down - taking a break from the busy-ness of the day to day and realigning with the natural rhythms of this season.

In our fast-paced society we expect to live life at the same pace throughout the year, and slowing down enough to notice and come into alignment with the changing of the season can feel like an act of rebellion. It has become easier to speed up than to slow down, but by offering ourselves the acceptance and permission to simply be, we offer respite and nourishment to our physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Retreats at Tiptoe offer us the time to reconnect with the rhythms of the seasons, and remember that we too are beings of nature. When we tune back into these rhythms, we notice the settling and grounding affect on our nervous system.

We can enjoy a natural turning inward as nights draw longer, and take inspiration from the mighty trees of the New Forest to return our energy to our roots after the blooming, blossoming expansive energy of the summer, and allow old leaves to lose their color and eventually fall away.

We celebrated the abundance of the harvest season, enjoying nourishing seasonal meals, home cooked by our lovely hosts Annabel & Angus, and foraging for cèpes and birch boletes on our daily forest walks under Angus' guidance.

The weekend can be as active or relaxed as you feel, with outdoor yoga, surprisingly warm sea swims, beach and forest walks, or time spent simply relaxing and taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Our yoga, meditation and yoga nidra practices over the weekend are curated to bring us back to the true meaning of yoga - union and connection :

  • On a universal level, bringing us back into connection with Mother Earth and the rhythms of her seasons

  • Connection with others through shared experience, deepening existing connections between old friends and creating bonds with new

  • Connection back to ourselves, by bringing body, mind and spirit onto the same plane, we create balance and reconnect with our natural state of ease, joy and flow that lies beneath the layers that everyday life piles upon us

We fill up our cup on retreat, and magical weekends like this help us to maintain that balance, harmony and connection as we transition back away from retreat life. As the layers get pulled back over us, this filling up serves as a reminder of connection to our whole, complete, balanced self, exactly as you are.

If a weekend at Tiptoe sounds like something you'd love, our autumn retreat runs every October. Dates are coming soon for our October 2024 retreat - sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know about Tiptoe and more in 2024.
